Crux diving has worked on some of the most important and challenging underwater projects over the years, contributing to the overall safety and success of vital infrastructure. Below is a sampling of our expertise in action.
Alcatraz
Crux Diving provided underwater construction support in the repair of the 1939 concrete wharf on Alcatraz Island. Using specialized methods, Crux divers repaired each individual pile by welding, burning, installing anodes as needed, placement of pile jackets, and repairing cement while ensuring proper containment of debris. Crux maintained a flexible work schedule to ensure uninterrupted visitor access.
Bliss Dam
Bliss dam, a concrete gravity type hydroelectric dam on the Snake River in Bliss Idaho required spillway remediation work.
Crux provided the underwater support for concrete rehabilitation through placement of 600 cubic yards of underwater concrete.
El Capitain
The El Capitain is an 80 foot derelict vessel tugboat that sank in 30 feet of water off orcas island in the San Juan islands.
It is estimated to be about 460k lbs. Crux's salvage team successfully removed this vessel without any environmental impact or hydrocarbon release. The removal was performed in a safe controlled manner, limiting additional debris.
SR 520 Floating Bridge
Crux Diving provided the underwater support for the demolition and replacement of the SR 520 bridge. These services included installing anchors for the floating bridge, installing cofferdams to build bridge piers, and moving pontoons into position.
